Description
Dates, Lemongrass and Mango is a miniature piece measuring approximately 10" x 8". This is one of my first still lifes and am working in the alla prima style, trying to capture as much subtle information onto my surface in the shortest amount of time. I chose an odd grouping of dried and cut lemongrass from my frozen bush in the back yard along with dates and a very ripe mango I found at the store. The smell almost got me to cut into it before getting this piece done. I had patience though. It also made me speed up my process a bit. Such incentive. The piece of pottery is a simple vessel I had tucked away and found it perfect for this set-up. I plan on doing more using this technique so please check back from time to time to see what is new.
