Description
Neptune, King of the Seas, takes center stage in this decorative design disc. Inspired by the spectacular and vivid colors of stained glass, which is usually associated with Christianity and the many great churches and cathedrals, I wanted to do something more fanciful, playful. And choosing the ocean as my playground I found an abundance of mystery, enchantment and such beautiful creatures for the task. Bright yellow tangs provide the foundation of movement in this piece along with kelp swirling all round the grand figure of Neptune, who is appropriately attired with full gold crown and nautical tattoo on his chest. Tiny fish are perfectly comfortable dodging in and out of his hair with a brightly colored purple sea dragon and red crab edging in for a greeting. And to finish off the circular design I incorporated a purple and teal double helix with inner pearl motif.
