Description
Sun Mask is a simple study of abstraction focusing on the subject of a face, or more likely a mask. It is a very approachable subject that provides an instant connection and relation for a viewer, drawing from it a narrative easily imagined. Primitive styling, strong geometric elements with bright color and texture help create this unique narrative that captivates. Living here in the desert southwest I am constantly reminded of the history of this rugged territory. Ah yes, the sun! Who does not think of the sun when hearing or talking about the desert? Bringing these two ideas together makes for a powerful visual that will keep a viewer coming back time and again hoping to glean some truth about life and our history. Currently I am in the process of creating more images with this theme so please check back from time to time to see what is new! I see in this work the golden masks of the Aztecs, representing gods to help them through the difficult times...A very strong contrasts of texture and a fantastic brightness!! F/V.

Gorgeous, Randy. I like all the layers of textures and brushstrokes. It really does seem to glow. Compelling. f/v
