Stained glass has always been a powerful inspiration for me. The ancient method of telling a story through bits of carefully placed glass is simply stunning. Although my images are not actual stained glass they are fashioned with a close likeness.

The image of a guardian angel protector of children dates back well into the Victorian Era and as with many angels of the period was shown as a woman. It has been a source of peace, comfort, and tranquility for many generations. For this project I wanted to create a scene of safety and protection during the scariest time of the day for a child, bedtime. I created two variations of this concept, one with a girl and the other a boy, both nestled with a fluffy toy puppy for that feeling of security. Cooing doves or softly singing nightingales add a sense of gentle sound to the scene along with the illusion of a soft breeze by the swirling leaf pattern in the background, the billowy garment of the angel, and...
