This is a simple study of abstraction inspired by a piece by the Swiss artist Paul Klee. In an attempt to broaden my experience of creating artwork I have jumped into creating a few pieces in this direction. Using the theme of masks and faces as a starting point I hope to gain a more expressive understanding of painting and creating. Color and application and how they work off each other help to define the narrative in this piece. Why chartreuse? I keep coming back to this color. All I can say is that it is a color I consistently and naturally gravitate towards. Perhaps I need to do a psychological study of color to come up with a proper answer. For now it just works for me. Thanks for stopping by! I am an illustrator, designer, artist. Yes, I know, pick one! A difficult thing to do when the energy to explore takes hold. Along with the more decorative designs I create, using a variety of computer programs, I also like to explore more traditional, and abstract artwork, using mediums like oil, acrylic, gouache, and pastel. The combination of these two approaches helps in the creation of many of my more inventive images.
