Faced With Blue is a simple study of abstraction focusing on the subject of a face, or more likely a mask. It is a very approachable subject that provides an instant connection and relation for a viewer, drawing from it a narrative easily imagined. Primitive styling, strong geometric elements with bright color and texture help create this unique narrative that captivates. Living here in the desert southwest I am constantly reminded of the history of this rugged territory. And for this piece I chose the moon as my muse. Nighttime hikes in the Santa Catalinas offered great inspiration for this piece. Bringing these two ideas together makes for a powerful visual that will keep a viewer coming back time and again hoping to glean some truth about life and our history. Thanks for stopping by! I am an illustrator, designer, artist. Yes, I know, pick one! A difficult thing to do when the energy to explore takes hold. Along with the more decorative designs I create, using a variety of computer programs, I also like to explore more traditional, and abstract artwork, using mediums like oil, acrylic, gouache, and pastel.
